Matthew Sigsworth BA (Hons)


Specialisms & Experience

Matthew has been a Welfare Benefits and Debt adviser since 1995. He subsequently worked as a case worker in 3 Citizens Advice Bureaux and then set up and managed Darlington Borough Council’s Welfare Rights Service. He has also been a Legal Services Commission accredited supervisor since 2001.

Matthew is now responsible for the firm's Welfare Benefits and Debt work. He is able to assist with matters such as Housing Benefit overpayments and appeals, sickness and disability benefit appeals, and Judicial Review proceedings. Matthew undertakes work relating to both priority and non-priority debts, and personal insolvency. In addition, Matthew is an Insolvency Service "Authorised Intermediary" so he can assist clients with debt problems such as appliying for a Debt Relief Order.

1994      - Legal Practice Course at Nottingham Law School
1995/05 - Case Worker in three CAB, specialising in welfare benefits, debt & employment law
2001      - Legal Services Commission Accrediated Welfare Benefits & Debt Supervisor
2005      - 2009 Welfare Rights Manager with Darlington Borough Council
2009      - Joined Clark Willis and commenced trainee solicitors contract
2011      - Qualified as a Solicitor with Clark Willis Law Firm
